FAB Rules! - By: Kathy Halligan

FAB stands for Fiber Arts of Bethlehem. This “crafty” group comes together once a month to work on our latest favorite craft with others. We also love to share our accomplishments with each other to the “ooohs” and “aaahhs” that come from those who also create those lovely blankets, scarves, sweaters, booties, needlepoint, doilies, lap robes, prayer shawls ….or any of the latest items each of us has made.

Every year this group donates to charity groups in need of afghans, hats, mittens, scarves, totes, and lap robes. We learn new stitches and share our patterns with the passion of grade school children trading our lunch sandwiches.

Recently, we embraced something new: we had an instructor show us how to tat. This old-fashion skill for making lace is a dying art. Our instructor was taught by his very own grandmother at a very young age. What a sweet memory.

Over the last few months, a craft group from MSU has visited us a couple of times. If you would like to visit—or join—this group, contact the church office for details … or … just come the first Saturday of each month anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. We will be in the church Library. Everyone is always welcome…come be FAB with us!
