PASTOR MATT SMITH
Pastor Matt Smith came to Bethlehem in 2008 to serve as Assistant Pastor for Youth and Family Ministry, with then Lead Pastor, Jim Lichtenberger. Following the retirement of Pastor Lichtenberger in 2015, Pastor Matt was called to serve as Lead Pastor in 2016.
Prior to coming to Bethlehem, Pastor Matt served as pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, MI, following his graduation from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH, in 2002, where he received a Master of Divinity degree.
Pastor Matt received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Religion minor from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, in 1995, where his religious studies focused on, "The People of the Book," (Judaism, Christianity and Islam).
He has worked extensively with Living Water Ministries, the ELCA's Outdoor and Retreat Ministry in Michigan (www.elcalivingwater.com).
Current areas of interest include community involvement in the Baker/Donora neighborhood in Lansing and ecumenical work with neighboring churches and continued work with our Youth Ministry.
