DALLAS - The Knights started fast, faded quickly, and looked beaten at the end. Thats the situation from Texas.The UCF team was banged up coming into the game, but losing Isaiah Bowser before the opening kickoff was just the start of more injury news, as well as a bad sign overall . There are many issues to discuss, so instead of just a traditional postgame story, the following categories represent three of many issues that need to be fixed as evidenced by the SMU game. Numerous UCF players were banged up during the game as well, including linebacker Bryson Armstrong and running back Mark Antony-Richards. Those issues are not in UCFs control, but it also helped to paint a picture of where the UCF Football resided at the conclusion of the contest. This point should not be considered a news flash. UCF needed depth before Head Coach Gus Malzahn took over, and thats still the case now. With all the injuries, there were jersey numbers on the field that quite frankly did not receive much playing time prior to today. Thats just the point at which UCF reached in year one of Coach Malzahns tenure. Its also why recruiting is the No. 1 priority overall. The need to add talent across the board is evident, because injuries happen, and the Knights failed to prove they have enough reserves that can play with at least a similar level of talent as the starters. This stated fact was seen on the field today and during the Cincinnati game as well. Those good teams found weaknesses and just exploited them over and over. Looking at the statistics, the Knights were out gained 631 to 333. Moving forward to 2022, thats the type of number that cannot happen again. It just cannot. To get to a point thats acceptable next season, that will be accomplished by how the final two games and the bowl game plays out.For the final two games of 2021, UCF needs to get healthier , but after the season concluded, players and coaches need to be able to look back at the final two games and know they made some improvements. UCFs Offense Looked Lost Without BowserBy this juncture of the season https://www.ukfootballprostore.com/Women-33, missing Bowser in the lineup should not cost the offense like it did. The rushing attack played awful in the first half. It was the definition of out of sync.A missed running lane, cutting back too early, missed blocks, and just consistent missed opportunities overall plagued the rushing attack for the Knights.While the 58 yard touchdown by Antony-Richards helped, relying on one huge run did not work against a quality opponent like SMU, and that probably the same result UCF would have received if it had played another top team. Still, the Knights need more from the rushing attack when Bowser comes out of the lineup for any reason, against a good team.Without Bowser, UCF should not be finished as a rushing offense, but it certainly looked that way during several points of the SMU game today. Thats more on players than coaches. Again, thats on players more than coaches. Fans like to complain about coaching, but this is way too far into the 2021 season to have played like this on offense. Now back to the offense...They simply did not mesh well together. Its game No. 10. The extra time off should help both recover from injuries sustained earlier this season. Tyler PatmonJacksonville has been a bit of a surprise this year, and Patmon hopes to break through more often in the weeks to come. Webber is rated as the third-best Junior College player in the nation according to 247sports, and boasts 32 offers. Ohio State and Texas AM are favorites for Dewberry at the moment and he left OSU off his top five. The Detroit Pistons have won the 2021 NBA lottery and will receive the first pick in the 2021 NBA Draft on July 29.Former Oklahoma State standout Cade Cunningham has long been anticipated as the No. 1 choice in this draft class, dating back to his high school days. While it is possible the Pistons go in a different direction, Cunningham is the perceived choice at this time.The Pistons don't have any true stars on the roster and will be able to mold it to fit Cunningham's skills should it select him. Killian Hayes started at point guard for the Pistons last season as a rookie; Detroit selected him seventh overall in last years' draft. The other notable guard in Detroit is Wayne Ellington, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.John Hollinger of The Athletic ranked each lottery team by fit for Cunningham, with the Pistons coming in ninth of 14 teams Steven Brown Jersey. His game of the season came against East Carolina, where he completed 77 percent of his passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns.His favorite target is Cam Phillips. Well, that Houston-Baptist game didn't quite go as planned. The Pokes simply could not put away the Huskies and especially had no answer for the athletic Andrew Gonzalez other than to foul him. Hopefully tonight will be more of the straight up beating variety.The Pokes enter this game still trying to figure out their identity. Out of the new guys, Jean-Paul Olukemi and Darrell Williams are stepping up quickly while the others are still developing. This would be fine except that the returning players aren't quite up to mid-season form themselves. In Saturdays game, Keiton Page was 1-6 from three, Ray Penn had 2 assists to three turnovers, Fred Gulley didn't do much except foul Gonzalez, and Matt Pilgrim is still having champagne dreams about Cincinnati..aka: where everything happens. The bright spots were Nick Sidorakis who shot well from long range and even had a couple of nice finishes at the rim, and Marshall Moses who finished with 17 points and 7 rebs. Asfar as Texas AM CC, there isn't much I can know about them this early, but they are coming off a 21 point loss to TexasAM in which the game was over early as AM jumped out to a 23-8lead. The Islanders are turnover prone and can play a rough style sothere should be plenty of FT attempts for the Cowboys once again Timothy Allen Jersey, and ifthey can push that FT percentage above 70% this looks like an easy win. Going forward, I want to start tracking what I consider to be the important factors for this Cowboy team to play well overall. I will probably add factors in as the season moves on, but for now here are the 3 important factors I have noticed from the one game I have seen, and looking through the boxscores of the 2 pre-season games.Factor #1: Assists to FG MadeNone of our guards are natural distributors, and without the pure scoring of James Anderson I see that becoming a huge problem this season. Last season the Cowboys had 413 assists on 839 made FG for a percentage of 49%. I would say that the Pokes should be hitting this 50% mark, or higher, if they are moving the ball around like they need to be given their personnel. vs Houston-Baptist: 46%Factor #2: Free Throw %Arguably, this Oklahoma State teams best attribute is that almost everyone is big https://www.mthoutlet.com/Amir_Richardson_Jersey-30, quick, physical, and athletic. Because of this, there should be plenty of free throws attempted in every game... the difference between a win and loss for the Cowboys may often come down to how well they shoot from the line. vs Houston-Baptist: 61.9%Factor #3: Percentage of 3FG to Total FGKind of a combo of two here, but it is really pretty basic. Are we taking too many threes, and are they going in? Last season, a whopping 42% of the Pokes attempted shots were from behind the 3-point line. That is borderline absurd, but they did have the shooters for it last season as they shot 35% from three. This season there are only 2.5 true 3-point shooters, so the attempts should go way down unless the 3FG% can match last seasons 35%. vs Houston-Baptist: 16 of 60 shots were from three, and they made 4 of the 16note: I am going to think of some way to roll-up factor #3 into one number that is representative of the whole point of the factor, but I haven't figured out a way to do it yet. Also, I want to work in a defensive factor, but since defensive stats suck, and I have yet to find a way to pull plusminus information, the defensive factor may end up being something purely descriptive like "play tough defense on the wing", and then I will assign some sort of a one-to-ten judging score to that factor based on what I saw.
